1) Full Payment
You can choose to pay a full payment upfront.

2) Partial Payment:
You can choose to pay an advance deposit of INR 5,000 per person x 2 = INR 10,000 as an advance deposit.
We would request you to pay the pending balance at least one month prior to the start date of the trek.

Please note:

1) This trek starts and ends in Kaza. Kaza is the district capital of Spiti Valley. The trek starts at 8 AM from Kaza. Which means, it is essential that you arrive in Kaza at least one day before the trek starts.

2) There are two roads to Spiti Valley – One via Manali, Rohtang Pass and Chandratal Lake which is the famous route.
This road would be closed during your dates and is only open between June 1st week and October 2nd week.

The other road, is via Shimla and Kalpa – and is called the Hindustan – Tibet Highway.
Recognized by Lonely Planet as the “World’s most adventurous road”, this highway is a 2 day drive that takes you through the green valley of Kinnaur into the brown and white Spiti Valley.

While April and May is not the tourist season to visit Spiti as it’s still cold, and the valley is slowly waking up from its winter slumber – it’s a great opportunity to witness Spiti at its tranquil and peaceful best. If it snows well in the winter, there’s a very good chance that you would run into traces of snow in the higher villages of the valley.

3) It would be ideal if you reach Kaza at least two days before the start of the trek so that you can acclimatize well. You can spend one day after the trek ends in Kaza to explore the markets.

4) If you have about 12 days in hand, you can follow this itinerary:

Day 1127-MayDrive from Kalpa to ShimlaShimla Hotel
Day 1228-MayDrive from Shimla to Chandigarh / New Delhi

Please note that this is a suggestive itinerary. This whole tour (Shimla – Spiti Trek – Shimla) can be completed in a period of 9 days if required. If you want, we arrange the road trip part of this journey as a private tour, and you could join the fixed departure for the trek / or have the same arranged for you privately. Do let us know if you need that option.

Regarding Accommodation in Kaza, Kalpa and Shimla:

We can recommend hotels in Shimla, Kalpa and Kaza and we would be happy to accommodate you.
Do let us know how many rooms are you looking for and we’ll make the required arrangements.

Regarding Reaching Spiti Valley from Shimla: Shimla – Kalpa – Kaza Highway (2 days)

A) Private Taxi: We follow this itinerary if we take a taxi –

Day 1: Shimla – Kalpa (10 – 12 hours) Day 2: Kalpa – Kaza (10 – 11 hours)

A private taxi (non-AC Innova) would cost you INR 22,000 for this route. It would cost the same for the return journey.

B) Shared Taxi: We can follow this itinerary if we use a shared taxi:

Day 1: Take a bus from New Delhi / Chandigarh – Rampur (12 – 14 hours) Day 2: Take a shared taxi from Rampur to Kaza (12 – 14 hours)

You can choose to take an air-conditioned HRTC bus from New Delhi to Rampur. These tickets can be booked via the official website of HRTC / over the counter in an HRTC office.

page4image18368592

The cost of a seat in a shared taxi from Rampur to Kaza is about INR 2000 per seat.
Please note that a shared taxi may not be available on all dates and ins strictly subjective to availability. The car here is usually a Tata Sumo and is shared by about 7 – 8 people.

Also, the rates are not fixed and vary based on the number of people sharing the car.

C) Bus: We follow this route if we choose to travel by bus:

Day 1: Take a bus from Shimla to Reckong Peo (10 – 12 hours) Day 2: Take a bus from Reckong Peo to Kaza (10 – 12 hours)

These bus tickets can be booked online on the official HRTC website or you can choose to buy it over the counter.
The buses are non-AC and can be categorized as basic.

D) Share a taxi with co-trekkers:

Ideally, this would be the most comfortable and economical option. Here, we will hire a private taxi for all the members of the homestay trek and they can share the car for not just the to and fro journey but also during the trek.

Since there are no porters included in this fixed departure, to carry your luggage, you would either need to hire a separate porter / donkey to carry the luggage or you can choose this car to carry all your luggage when you trek. The car will reach the village before you reach and you can have access to your luggage then. If all the members of the trek agree, then we can work out an itinerary that would start and end in Chandigarh, take you to Spiti Valley and would include all sightseeing on the way and the homestay trek.

E) Comprehensive Spiti Valley Road Trip + Homestay Trek

If you have about 12 – 14 days in hand (Chandigarh to Chandigarh), ideally, this would be the best way to do this trek. We will start with a road trip that starts from Chandigarh, takes you to Spiti Valley via Shimla and Sangla Valley (camping here). Once in Spiti, you will explore Kaza and Pin Valley before heading to Ki and Kibber from where you start the Homestay trek. During the trek, the car will be allotted to you – dedicated to carrying your luggage and tailing you in case you need it during the trek.

After the trek, the same car will pick you up from Dhankar, and take you to Kaza, and the next day, will drop you at Kalpa, and then further drop you in Shimla / Chandigarh / New Delhi as per your requirement.
